Grilled lamb with plum rosemary sauce

Oh we loved this. Someday I'll share the recipe with you.

Know what else is wonderful? The hamburgers at the Cool Cafe at the Cantor Art Museum. Topped with Point Reyes blue cheese -- need I say more? Apparently the chef, Jesse Ziff Cool, is a local celebrity. She was lurking about the cafe today, sporting magenta side streaks in her hair.

Funny--we never ever would have had fruit with meat when I was growing up, EXCEPT pork with applesauce. And now it's everywhere (including, almost daily, my own kitchen). Is it just Americans' ever-increasing urge for the sweet? Not complaining, just curious.

I do worry about America's sweet tooth, but I think the fruit/meat is more about America's hunger for new tastes, relatively recent embrace of international cuisines, and the "New American" movement which involves more fresh ingredients.
