Celebrate the holidays with plastic

I keep telling people that if it were socially acceptable I would collect my own Playmobil toys to play with. Here is my compormise: the nativity. Oh, it's a far cry from the beautiful Italian nativity of my childhood, with the manger built of hand-gathered twigs and moss, but I love it. If only I could convince Jasper that it's my toy, not his.

I just bought our second Playmobil Nativity at Target today. Lilly got to all the pieces and they are scattered from "Hell to Breakfast", as my husband likes to say. The second set is for us. And, I think it's perfectly acceptable to collect PM as adults. We have our eye on this awesome submarine that has a motor so it can submerge. Now I'm sounding like I dork.....

I LOVE Playmobil!

That's so funny -- I got Jasper the sub for Christmas! I can't wait. Er, for both of us.

One of last year's favorite gifts under our tree for my 5 year old was a Playmobil DHL delivery van with packages, a delivery person, a handtruck, a clipboard and a mobile phone. He picked it out of the catalog that came with thePlaymobil Nativity set that my mom had bought for my kids (to be kept at her house for visits) the Christmas before. He showed it to me a million times and talked about it forever, I finally found it for order online from some obscure toy company and got it for him. On a related note, the Nativity we have at our house is a wooden one with thick, kid-friendly pieces, and my 4 year old LOVES playing with it since we pulled it our this season, he moves the characters around, gives them rides in his trucks and lines them up for imaginary meetings. I love to watch it. And our stacking Santas have become part of the gang, I often see them hanging out with the Nativity crew. Seems only appropriate.

Please post pictures of the Sub from Santa!

Too funny! I just about bought this the other night. I still might!

Playmobil is the best. And, of course, so are Legos. Love Legos!

We have this very same Nativity. I love having one that the kids can play with.

Playmobil ROCKS. We have the pirates, the castle, and on and on....
