The price of rice in China

As prices for grains soar riots are breaking out over the globe. Economist Paul Krugman examined this crisis yesterday in the Times:

Grains Gone Wild

Prosperity is exacerbating poverty. There are a few things you can do. Make a donation to the UN World Food Program. Also, contact your local politicians and urge them to stop pushing biofuels. I know, you thought biofuels were good, right? Me too. But it turns out corn ethanol is about as green as oil -- and it's contributing to high food prices.

Yeah, biofuels are not proving to be the solution everyone keeps hoping they will be. Now hydrogen... There's a solution we should all get behind so the rest of us can get back to enjoying succulent summer corn for less than $2/ear.
