Lane was in Queens yesterday when he stumbled upon Baruir, a charming Armenian shop. They roast their own coffee right there and also sell Middle Eastern foods. Lane bought us some of the fun treats they sell, mushroom pate, a creamy caviar paste, soujuk (a fermented dried beef sausage), and pillowy Turkish delight in flavors like rosewater. Their coffee is good and strong. Baruir has been open since the mid-60s.
Two stops into Queens on the 7 train.
